Full Swing in Spring!

Our 4th grade classroom has a lot going on! A quick update on what we are up to:
We continue to work hard on our Biography research project. We've written our rough drafts, revised, edited, and are now typing our final copies on Google Docs. We invite parents to visit our 4th grade "Biography Bash" on Tuesday, April 19 from 10:00-11:00.
We've reached the American Revolution on our timeline of New York State history, and after reading about the Patriots and the Loyalists, have made a decision about what side we would be on! We read an inspiring letter from a Patriot to his Loyalist father: http://www.gilderlehrman.org/history-by-era/war-for-independence/resources/patriot%E2%80%99s-letter-his-loyalist-father-1778 which was the inspiration for us writing a letter declaring our own position in the Revolutionary War. We are also enjoying a great book together as a class called The Woods Runner by Gary Paulsen about a 13 year old boy who finds himself caught in the middle of the Revolutionary War.
In Library, our class has enjoyed using iPads to create movie trailers for books that we enjoyed and would recommend to others. These movie trailers can be viewed in your child's Google drive account.
Mr. Micieli's math class has wrapped up our Lines and Angles unit and have begun exploration of fractions, including: equivalent fractions, improper fractions, mixed numbers, and comparing fractions.
*Please note New York State testing dates over the next few weeks, 4th graders are scheduled to start on those days at 9:00. Thanks to those parents that sent in snacks to enjoy for breakfast on testing days- we are still accepting granola bars, fruit snacks, juice boxes, etc.
