Happy New Year!

We are excited to kick off the New Year in 4th grade with some fun new topics and units.
In Language Arts, we've been writing about our New Year's resolutions and setting goals for 2016. We continue to use our monthly Storyworks magazine during reading time to enjoy and discuss a variety of fiction, non-fiction, plays, and poetry.
In Social Studies, we are learning about the Dutch settlement of New Netherland. We are reading a great book called "Dutch Double", written by two local authors, that tells a historical fiction/ fantasy tale of a young girl living in the Stockade area of Schenectady during the 17th century.
Multiples, factors, prime and composite numbers, and divisibility will be our focus in Math.
Upcoming units in Health include learning about the food groups with "My Plate" (formerly known as the food pyramid) and in Science... Electrical Circuits!
